She's a Betty

My neighbor, Marty, brought over a quilt she had put together with blocks that belonged to her mother, Betty. Betty's friends had all done a block for her in 1981 and they remained in a pile until Marty put them together after her mother's death. It really needs to be hand quilted, but Marty herself is getting on in years and arthritis is twisting her fingers. I think it's one of the most beautiful quilts, because each woman put so much into her block. There's Russian needlepoint, applique, yo-yo's, lots of embroidery and thoughtfulness. So here's to Betty. I never knew you, but you must have been a lovely woman to have these kinds of women around you.
