Junior First Lego League

Another reason quilting hasn't been on the top of my list is my son's Lego robotics team. We chose to go to a different school than our neighborhood friends, so in an effort to keep my son feeling included in his great friendships, we decided to start a team in the Junior First Lego League. This is for 6-11 year olds, and since our group were six year olds, the team had to consist of no more than 6 members. And now that we're at the end of it, whew! That's just the right number.

We met for six weeks and the boys used amazing lego pieces I've never seen before, to come up with a group model depicting this year's theme, Body Forward, studying biomedical engineering. It was fun to see how our group grew together and used each boy's talents and direction to make something cool. This week we'll have a big party for family so the boys can show their model and poster (and eat cookies). We bought this starter kit that ended up being around $30 per family, and I'm hoping they'll want to do it again next season. At this level we don't compete, and I'm hoping to visit the "big boys" competition next year.
